One year older and wiser too...

Today in primary we sang, You've Had a Birthday. The last line of the song says "One year older and wiser too, happy birthday to you!" It is my birthday today and I wondered, there in primary, if I really was wiser. I've decided to make a list of a few things I have learned over the past year:

  1. I need to take omega 3's. It is a fact that your brain shrinks when you're pregnant. There are two things you need to help it "grow back" -sleep & omega 3's- I haven't been on omega 3's and I've been pregnant three times.....
  2. I've learned that if you ask your doctor for a DUI instead of an IUD, you will make him, and his nurse, laugh longer then they should.
  3. Being a teenager really starts at 12 1/2.
  4. When my 3 year old watches me change into a swimming suit and says, "I need some of those!", he is just like his dad.
  5. I've learned not to change in front of a 3 year old.
  6. My mom use to tell us growing up, "I'm tired of the noise." I've learned exactly how she felt. Some days my ears are so tired I feel as though I need to hold them on so they don't fall off.
  7. I really do enjoy listening to classical music and wish I could play it.
  8. My pant size will probably never be a single number again.
  9. Priorities are a choice. My actions show what comes first, not what I write down as first.
  10. I've learned that my family is the way it is. This is who we are and how we are. I feel like we all could expand our family circle a little bit and accept it for how it is.

very insightful, especially the bit about priorities. what you do truly demonstrates your priorities. and thanks for backing me up on my little shoving rant. i was seriously wondering if i was crazy when it happened.

Happy Birthday Julie! It is was fun to read your list. Very insightful and good for a laugh. I liked the part about priorities being a choice and how actions show what comes first. I need to remember that. Oh and about the omega 3s... Does the brain ever grow back after pregnancy? I think mine is affected still.

Thanks for the heads up on the Omega 3's! However, I think your brain shrinks even if you are not pregnant. Brad's brain shrinks every night and I know he has never been pregnant-what does he need to take for that? Any advice would help. Just kidding, He he he. You are funny!

TIME OUT....It was your birthday and we didn't sing to you. You are no longer in charge of writing down the birthdays for us :) We will have to sing to you in a couple of weeks. HAPPY BIRTHDAY (belated birthday that is)!!!

PS...You are a whole lot wiser than me. I'm suffering from #1 BIG TIME!!! (Maybe I should be sleeping right now to help that...hahaha)

Great to see you on the blog roll! I enjoyed your insight. Maybe next time I'm in St. George with Marcy we will have to have a girls night out or something. It has been a long time since I saw you last. Hope all is well with your family. I can't believe how big Tanner is.

We've had some computer issues this week, but Happy Belated Birthday! I loved your list (especially the DUI)...and by the way, I am so jealous that Adessa is walking. It's so fun to be able to find out what is going on with you guys! Oh, one more thing...when will you be up for Halloween?

I can't believe you pulled it off! I totally tried that a year ago and someone found out it was my birthday. I wish I had been at church on Sunday I could have ruined your little plan. Oh well, you made a few good women feel pretty bad... he he he. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and giving a good laugh. That's why I just love to talk with you, you are so uplifting! Hope your day was a good one!

That was so fun to read. I think kids in general suck the brain cells right out, and on a daily basis. My oldest is always making fun of me for forgeting things. Oh well, atleast kids are worth a few missing brain cells. The dui comment was funny. I bet your office has shared that one a few times!

Julie, it was so great to hear from you on my blog! I loved reading your birthday list . . . it's inspired me to want to do something like that on mine, too. Although, hmmm . . . I'm not sure that I actually am wiser now.
